You will not receive a floor. In practice Mongolians use several methods of flooring. Those who are staying portable may put down a plastic vapor barrier and then cover the active walking area with a few throw rugs. Others get vinyl flooring and cut it to fit their ger. This gives a surface that can be swept and mopped. When it is time to move on, they can roll the vinyl floor up having a fairly light object to transport. Those with the least resources or concern just go for a natural dirt floor. You can use grass for a short period of time, however without water and light this will eventually turn to dirt. For a more permanent installation you can consider several options ranging from concrete or stone pads to wood decks. You will not receive a heat source. Some will only use their gers in the summer and will not need this. One pane of the toono has a sheet metal cover with hole cut for a smoke stack. If use is for summer only, you can remove this. A small wood stove will keep your ger comfortable and provide you with a cooking surface.

Mongolians frequently add for decor and warmth a fabric curtain on the inside against the lattice wall. They simply buy roll goods and fold and hem on the edge so it will slide on a rope or wire. They then hang this at the top of the lattice wall. This creates a dead air space between the fabric and the felt increasing the R factor a little. It also adds some color and a finished look inside the ger while remaining lightweight. |

HOW DOES OUR GER COMPARE TO AMERICAN MADE YURTS?
There is no comparison since they are very different things. Put simply it is like trying to compare a bush pilots plane to a corporate jet. The American made yurts are much better crafted by machine using the best materials. They are not designed to be portable. It takes several days of competent labor to erect them and the same to take them down. They are a site specific product. In other words, you put it on your site and you pretty much leave it there. They are so nice that they are on the edge of being conventional homes. There are many more cubic feet of air inside making it more difficult to maintain a comfortable temperature in the summer without air conditioning. Would you rather stay at Motel 6 or at the Hilton. The Hilton is hands down better and a few times the price. Both represent reasonable value based on what you paid and what you got. They are different products to fill different customers needs.
